Katsina Youth Council Hosts Peace Conference, Honors Alh. M. M. Murtala for Service to Nation

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Katsina State chapter, organized a one-day conference on peacebuilding and security on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Katsina Motel Conference Hall. The event aimed at fostering peace and unity while recognizing the efforts of distinguished individuals, including Alh. M. M. Murtala (ADG Rtd), for their contributions to national development and peacebuilding efforts.

The conference, themed "Peace and Security in Nigeria: A Collective Responsibility," highlighted the importance of collaboration in ensuring peace and security across the country. The event also served as a celebration of the retirement of Alh. Murtala, who was honored for his service as a former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Borno State.

During the event, insightful presentations were delivered on the state of peace and security in Katsina State, with discussions focusing on how youth and other members of society can actively contribute to fostering lasting peace and stability within the state and across Nigeria.

Among the notable attendees were the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security, Hon. Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, Prof. Mukhtar Alkasim, Dr. Ruwan Godiya, Alh. Nura Kofar Sauri (Jakada), and Alh. Haruna Maiwada Sadaukin Kaita. Youth leaders, government officials, and various stakeholders also attended the event to celebrate the retirees and acknowledge their achievements in promoting security and development.

The conference emphasized the critical role of peace and security in societal development, particularly at a time when Nigeria is facing numerous security challenges. The contributions of the honorees, particularly Alh. Murtala, were praised for their dedication to safeguarding the nation during their careers.
